June 2025: Brief News & Notes

New Scholarships for Alliant Students

Each summer, the Alliant Educational Foundation reviews hundreds of student applications for its new round of scholarship funding.  This annual round of funding is made possible, in large part, by the generosity of more than 50 donor-restricted scholarship funds aimed at helping Alliant students across all campuses.  Nearly $100,000 in tuition assistance will be granted for the coming year.  This funding is in addition to $625,000 the Foundation just approved for 2025 in direct support for Alliant International University’s annual scholarship process each year.

Growth of the Alliant Ed Foundation “Fellows” Program

This fall will mark the launch of the third cohort of the Alliant Ed Foundation (AEF) Fellows, a program supporting 19 incoming students across the State of California in their pursuit of PhD and PsyD degrees in clinical psychology.  Many of these students share a commitment to social justice and community impact, high GPA’s, some level of financial need, and in some cases, are the first to attend college or graduate school in their families.

At scale, this program will support 80-100 such students with multi-year scholarships, peer connections, mentorship, and more!

AEF’s Regional Children’s Mental Health Consortium

The Alliant Educational Foundation launched it’s highly collaborative “mental health consortium” in 2020, helping to place CSPP graduate students in clinical psychology at a variety of youth-serving non-profit organizations.  At sites in San Diego and the San Francisco Bay Area, CSPP students bolster the capacity of existing organizations to better address the mental health needs of under-resourced children, youth, and their families.

We invite you to learn more about this important program.  For a quick primer on the consortium, please check out our animated overview here and our newest infographic here.

Special thanks to San Diego Foundation’s Healthy Children & Families Initiative which just approved a very generous grant to help sustain and expand the San Diego regional program.  We truly appreciate their generosity!

Upcoming Changes for Our Board of Directors

Effective July 1st (AEF’s new fiscal year), several volunteer leadership positions will be changing at the Foundation.  These include the election of new and returning Board members including:

Term-limited rotations leaving the Board including:

And a new Executive Committee of the Board:

We so appreciate the volunteer support and leadership that all of our Board members provide in shaping the governance and policy direction of the Foundation.  We couldn’t do it without them!

New Partnership with the Statue of Responsibility Foundation

As part of a three-way partnership between AEF, Alliant International University, and the Statue of Responsibility Foundation (SORF), June 6th saw the official unveiling and dedication of a new 15-foot replica Statue of Responsibility on the Alliant San Diego campus.

The event honored the enduring impact of Dr. Viktor Frankl and his teachings on the human spirit. This event marked a special moment in the university’s history, as Alliant has long been a home for Frankl’s work and philosophy.  Alliant’s connection to Dr. Viktor Frankl dates back to 1970 when he became a faculty member at Alliant’s predecessor institution, United States International University (USIU).  It was a full-circle moment to unveil the new statue and partnership amongst friends, donors, and long-time supporters of SORF.
