A New Beginning

Welcome to our newly redesigned website. We hope it provides you with all the information you might want to know about Alliant Educational Foundation. These are exciting times for us. Established on February 5, 2015, our first twenty-one months of existence were necessarily spent on developing our organizational infrastructure by hiring new staff members, developing our program offerings and recruiting new members to our Board of Directors.  Now we can begin to see the potential in front of us and are eagerly poised to move boldly into the future.

Our main focus now is to decide how to leverage the assets we have to improve the quality of life for underserved populations through the training of students for a life of service to those communities. Over the past 18 months, we have distributed nearly $200,000 in scholarship funds and have made a significant $2,000,000 contribution to Alliant International University for student scholarship support over the next 12 months.  We are keenly aware that this impressive institution has a proven track record of preparing its students for problem solving at the individual, family, organizational and community levels. We have also pledged an additional $3,000,000 over the following two years to ensure that students with the passion to make a difference can pursue their educational goals.

However, we are not only interested in investing in basic support. We are seeking avenues to create service networks that not only provide education and training for committed students, but also provide our citizenry with the means to organize and solve the pressing socio-educational issues confronting them. This symbiotic relationship between how to educate students for service and how to enable communities to resolve their issues is what drives us as an organization. In order to create sustainable ways to forge those networks, we also need to increase our base of funding, donors, constituents and stakeholders. As we struggle with these issues, create new projects, and identify new possibilities for bringing formerly disparate and competitive entities together, we will be using this blog to involve you in that dialogue.  Please join us in creating a meaningful outcomes-oriented conversation about achieving social justice through the expansion of the notion of education as service.
